A Romantic Day in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley: Wine, Pizza & A Boutique Stay

If you are traveling through Nova Scotia as a couple, no road trip is complete without spending a day in the Annapolis Valley.

Known as the agricultural heart and wine country of the province, the Valley is bursting with rolling hills, lush vineyards, and incredible farm-to-table dining. During our East Coast road trip, we spent a spectacularly romantic day eating and sipping our way through the area.

If you are looking for the perfect couples’ itinerary for the Annapolis Valley and the charming town of Windsor, here is exactly where to eat, drink, and sleep!

Lunch with a View: Luckett Vineyards

Our first stop was lunch at Luckett Vineyards in Wolfville, and it was nothing short of spectacular.

Sitting on the patio overlooking the vineyard and the stunning Gaspereau Valley below is an experience all on its own. But the food is where this winery truly shines. We ordered the olives, the beef carpaccio and a flatbread, and it was absolutely delicious. The ingredients are incredibly fresh, pairing perfectly with a glass of local Nova Scotian wine.

  • Good Journey Tip: Don’t forget your camera! Right in the middle of the grapevines is a bright red, vintage British phone booth. It isn’t just a quirky photo-op—it actually works! You can pick up the receiver and make a free call to anywhere in the world right from the middle of the vineyard. Note, trying to dial old-school might take a few tries to get the number right.

Dinner: Hole in the Wall Restaurant (Windsor)

After spending the afternoon exploring the Valley, we headed to the nearby town of Windsor for dinner. We grabbed a table at the Hole in the Wall Restaurant, an upscale, cozy eatery tucked right into the heart of downtown.

This spot is a local favorite, known for its warm ambiance and fantastic Italian-inspired menu. We ordered their pizza, and it was to die for. An artisan crust loaded with incredible flavor. If you are staying in Windsor, this is a must visit spot for a quiet, delicious dinner date.

Where We Stayed: The August House

For our accommodation, we checked into The August House in Windsor, and I cannot recommend this place enough.

If you are looking for a luxurious, romantic stay, this is it. The August House is a beautiful, 5-star boutique inn that has been impeccably designed. Every detail feels intentional, creating an intimate and relaxing atmosphere that is absolutely perfect for couples. After a long day of road-tripping and wine-tasting, returning to this gorgeous, comfortable retreat was the cherry on top.
